On My Mind

Life’s been a bit of a blur this past week. No deep thoughts. Just taking care of business and getting right along.

Instead, I’m sharing with you the funniest thing I’ve seen in months:

Journalism is not dead

Fair warning, this is NSFW.

I’ve got so much to unpack here.

First - It’s Parks & Rec in real life. Where is Leslie Knope to weigh in on this? Ron Swanson was clearly there since a councilman stepped in to restore order and human decency.

Second - Can you imagine standing up in your local council meeting and reading this out loud with this level of conviction?

You can’t help but tip your hat in a way.

Third - How did she think this would go in her mind? Everyone would clutch their pearls and rally against the library? Feels unlikely!

I would think best case scenario is that she says her piece and gets cut off before having to say the P word out loud.

Worst case?

Letting out not just a P word, but dropping a B-hole and getting reprimanded.

Brutal.

Fourth -You know this lady’s child was reading this book and she confiscated it. Now she’s reading it out loud in public.

Thoughts and prayers for that kid. Absolutely mortifying.

Fifth - I’m fully convinced that free local newspapers are the last line of defense against real journalism. These guys and gals are reporting on their community for the love of the game, and, clearly, for the love of smutty fantasy novels.

Nothing but respect for the real big-J Journalists out there.

God bless this country and God bless the first amendment for treasures like this.

What I’m Digging

The Great British Bake Off

This show is the autumnal G.O.A.T. Best vibe in the world.

New season is solid, as always. I’m #TeamGary through and through. Second favorite is the dude in a throuple (calls it his boyband).

#TeamGary

I’m always inspired to bake when I’m watching this show. How can you not be when you’re watching this mfer, Gary, whip up some bread pudding.

Baking some homemade oatmeal cream pies this week. Will send updates next week.

Lil’ Debbie can SUCK IT.

Stuck In My Head

Not exactly the soundtrack to my week - I just want you to share in the misery of these catchy tunes getting locked into your brain for the foreseeable future

I will be honest, when I looked it up, I thought this was Taylor Swift’s most recent album. It was 12 years ago for those of you keeping track at home.

Good luck getting this out of your head this week.

Thanks for reading

Sincerely,

Zander Barth

An extremely good looking man
